Aah, my dear mousse foundation. You're so soft, pigmented and fast. Only if you weren't so cakey during dry winter times and didn't rub off from the tiniest amount of friction.
Outside it is raining and my radiators are turned up to the maximum heat. My skin is slightly pulling, old spots still flaking a little from once scratching. On the armrests of my chair are light streaks of mousse foundation. My daily moisturises is almost empty from trying to get a plumped moist base for the dry and safe non-oily mousse.
Then it hit me: what am I doing? Trying to compensate very dry air and equally dry foundation with a hint of gentle moisturiser? Forgiving it to still look cakey on my skin even after that, even after finishing with a water spray AND a shimmering facial whip? This is just insane... all I need is...LIQUID FOUNDATION again!
Doesn't matter what brand I use, whether it's the classic Maybelline Mousse, the springy Nivea one, the cheap Catrice one that works good but doesn't come in my perfect shade or the cheap Essence one that is bad quality but comes in my shade. It's all way to dry.
I use a mousse during summer because it never goes oily. That's a huge plus and I love the mousses for it. But even during summer, which one would you rather be spotted with: a dry and cakey face or an oily face? I'd go for the oily face because that doesn't actually depend on wearing makeup, plus you can blot it. A cakey face is a far worse prroblem.
So on this cold and rainy day I decided to go for
Maybelinne Superstay 24h. It was such a relief when I realised that that was what my skin needed: light moisturises + liquid foundation. No dusty summer mousse!
Hello my dear micro-flex stretch non-transfer SPF formula! Haven't we met?
