My New Wardrobe Staple

Even when i was young i had an appreciation for fashion and dreamed of wearing some of the more luxury brands and as i've got older i have learnt more about the realities of money. Realistically i can not afford to buy everything designer however i like to pick a few pieces which help to dress up an outfit. For all of my other purchases i try to buy versatile items that look high quality and that will hopefully last me a long time.

Recently i have become obsessed with the British Vogue YouTube channel, watching the Alexa Chung series about getting into fashion (which is worth a watch) and also all of the interviews with celebrities and the Vogue editors. In particular i loved the video where Vogue editors took you through their wardrobes and i was particularly taken by Sarah Harris' wardrobe. She always looks so put together and in reality she sticks to the same clothes. I want to look sophisticated whilst being super comfy and casual. She inspired to me to incorporate more shirts into my wardrobe as before i have only owned flannels. I wanted a shirt that looked slightly smarter without looking too masculine as i am very petite.

I was wondering around my local shopping centre and i wondered into Warehouse who have recently been on point with their fashion and i noticed the shirt pictured above and i knew it was exactly what i was looking for. It is made of a very soft brushed cotton that hangs nicely over you and doesn't look too structured. If the material had been too stiff it would have made me look too boxy and swamped. I love that there is the option to have the sleeve rolled up (which is the way i usually wear it) or to have them down. There is also a very simple back detail which creates shape making it that little bit more feminine in such a subtle way. I love wearing this tucked into jeans with a cute pair of court shoes to dress it up. The outfit is so easy to put on and wear especially if i am just popping out for some groceries or something like that and i still look like i have put in a little bit of effort.

After buying the blue one in store for £28, i also wanted to get the white version but they didn't have my size in store but luckily i went on to ASOS and they had the white version on there so i bought it and i even managed to get 20% off. The white is a little bit more formal than the blue but it is great for wearing under jumpers so that the collar just peaks through. If you have a void in your wardrobe like i had this is a great shirt to start with and they do a very similar one in New Look for £14.99 but it doesn't have the cute back detailing.

I also recommend checking out the Vogue YouTube channel for fashion inspiration and just to find out a little bit more about the industry because it did change my perception of fashion and the people within it.
