Beyoncé Literally Made Her Bodyguards Carry Her Own Bottles of Alcohol to the Golden Globes - Cosmopolitan.com

Posted: 05 Jan 2020 08:09 PM PST

  • Beyoncé and Jay-Z arrived to the Golden Globes late.
  • On top of arriving late, Bey and Jay brought their own bottles of alcohol to the event.

Honestly, tonight's Golden Globes is the gift that seriously keeps on giving. The outfits are out of this world, there are awkward moments GALORE, and oh yeah—everyone is drunk out of their minds! As if the night couldn't get any better, Beyoncé and Jay-Z decided to grace the awards show with their presence, and because they are such royalty, they decided that the regular watered-down champagne (read: Moët & Chandon) at the tables simply would not do.

After showing up late (although a queen is never late—everyone else is simply early), Beyoncé showed up alongside her hubby in the most stunning gown with these larger-than-life gold sleeves. The outfit alone was enough to send the hive spiraling—until Amy Kaufman, a reporter for the Los Angeles Times, noticed something....else about Bey and Jay's entrance.

"@Beyonce and Jay-Z just walked in," she wrote on Twitter. "They're waiting until Kate McKinnon finishes speaking to take their seats. Is their bodyguard carrying bottles of alc for them?" And sure enough, if you take a close look at the hands of Bey's bodyguards, it looks like they're carrying two GOLDEN bottles of alcohol. To coordinate with Bey's golden sleeves, of course.

And juuust in case you're wondering what Bey's gown looked like, here ya go:

But back to this liquor debate. In response to Amy's tweet, another Twitter user wrote, "Jay-Z owns Ace of Spades. Can't be seen on TV with a Moët bottle in front of him."

Upon further investigation, this fact is one hundred percent true. Back in 2014, Jay bought out the Armand de Brignac champagne brand, which is nicknamed the Ace of Spades. A single bottle retails for $300, but let's be honest, would you expect Bey and Jay to drink liquor worth less?

So not only are Bey and Jay (rightfully) being picky AF by bringing their own alcohol and refusing to drink the available Moët, but they are also engaging in shameless self-promotion. Gotta love these two!

Beyoncé doesn't give Joaquin Phoenix standing ovation at Golden Globes, Twitter reacts - Page Six

Posted: 06 Jan 2020 07:13 AM PST

Beyoncé is being slammed on social media for remaining seated when Joaquin Phoenix won Best Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama for his role in "Joker" at the 2020 Golden Globes on Sunday night.

Stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Reese Witherspoon, Ellen DeGeneres and Phoenix's fiancée, Rooney Mara, could all be seen standing up and cheering for Phoenix as he went onstage to accept the award.

However, Beyoncé — who was nominated for Best Original Song for "Spirit" from "The Lion King" — noticeably did not get up from her seat.

Some viewers tweeted that the "Sorry" singer's actions were "disrespectful" and "rude."

One person said, "@beyonce You're a joke for not standing up for Joaquin Phoenix. Understandable to make a statement. But that's just poor sportsmanship for someone that actually deserved recognition. You're entitled and arrogant. And as an actress you're a joke. Smh. You ought to apologize to him."

But another stood up for Beyoncé and argued that perhaps the singer's gown would have "been a pain to get out of her chair with and then gather it to sit down," adding, "Maybe it wasn't a statement."

This was not the first time Beyoncé, who was accompanied by husband Jay-Z to the show, went rogue that night.

The power couple decided to skip the red carpet, reportedly showed up nearly an hour late, and brought their own brand of champagne to the gathering.

Why 'The Lion King' Should've Won the Golden Globe for 'Best Animated Feature' - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Posted: 06 Jan 2020 05:40 AM PST

Simba may be the king of Pride Rock, (and the box office,) but this movie disappointed fans at the 2020 Golden Globes. Although The Lion King earned nominations in multiple categories, other animated and live-action films won over Disney's photo-real remake. Here's why The Lion King, and Beyoncé, should've won at this award show.

Disney premiered their photo-real adaptation of 'The Lion King' during summer 2019

During summer 2019, Disney's photo-real adaptation of The Lion King pounced into theaters, bringing the company over a billion dollars in box office sales. This film featured a predominately new cast, a new song, and the same lovable characters native to Pride Rock. However, The Lion King differed from the original animated movie primarily through its CGI animation.

"I knew that with the tools that we had and what the technology had to offer and the team that had done such a great job on Jungle Book that there was an opportunity here to show the naturalism of that world," Director Jon Favreau said during an interview for The Big Ticket podcast. "I understood how to make animals act and talk through animation."

This animated movie featured the voices of Beyoncé, Donald Glover, and even Seth Rogen

This adaptation of The Lion King featured a star-studded cast, voice acting for characters like Simba, Nala, Timon, and Pumbaa. Among the best-known actors are Donald Glover (Childish Gambino,) Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, James Earl Jones, and Grammy-award winning singer Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.

Beyoncé took her involvement one step further, writing an album inspired by the story of The Lion King and African culture. The Lion King: The Gift featured musicians and producers from Africa, in addition to musicians like Donald Glover, Jay-Z, and Kendrick Lamar.

Beyoncé's song, "Spirit" appears on this album, as well as the soundtrack for the original motion picture. It was this song that earned a nomination at the Golden Globes, for "Best Original Song." Additionally, The Lion King earned a nomination in the "Best Animated Feature" category.

Which movie won the Golden Globe for 'Best Animated Feature?'

A few months after its premiere, Disney's The Lion King earned nominations for the 2020 Golden Globes. It was nominated in the "Best Animated Feature" category, along with movies like Toy Story 4, Frozen 2, and Missing Link.

However, to the disappointment of Disney fans everywhere, The Lion King lost in this category to Missing Link. Beyoncé and The Lion King lost in the "Best Original Song" category to Elton John and his Rocketman song, "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again."

There's still a chance for The Lion King to grab a few Academy Awards, as some predict nominations in the "Best Original Song" and "Best Animated Feature" categories. "Spirit" already earned a nomination at the Grammy Awards, which take place later during January 2020.

The original animated version of The Lion King is currently available for streaming on Disney+. The 2019 adaptation joins the streaming service's library on Jan. 28, 2020. Until then, fans can listen to the film's original soundtrack on Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms.

YouTube starts limiting ad targeting and data collection on kids content - Yahoo Lifestyle

Posted: 06 Jan 2020 05:59 PM PST

YouTube now officially limits the amount of data it and creators can collect on content intended for children, following promises made in November and a costly $170 million FTC fine in September. Considering how lucrative kids' content is for the company, this could have serious financial ramifications for both it and its biggest creators.

The main change is, as announced in November, that for all content detected or marked as being for kids, viewers will be considered children no matter what. Even if you're a verified, paying YouTube Premium customer (we know you're out there) your data will be sanitized as if YouTube thinks you're a 10-year-old kid.

Children's privacy costs just $170 million for Google in settlement with the FTC

There are plenty of reasons for this, most of them to do with avoiding liability. It's just the safer path for the company to make the assumption that anyone viewing kids' content is a kid — but it comes with unfortunate consequences.

Reduced data collection means no targeted ads. And targeted ads are much more valuable than ordinary ones. So this is effectively a huge revenue hit to anyone making children's content — for instance YouTube's current top-earning creator, Ryan Kaji (a kid himself).

It also limits the insights creators can have on their viewers, crucial information for anyone hoping to understand their demographics and improve their metrics. Engagement drivers like comments and notifications are also disabled, to channels' detriment.

Google for its part says that it is "committed to helping creators navigate this new landscape and to supporting our ecosystem of family content." How exactly it plans to do that isn't clear; Many have already complained that the system is not clear and that this could be a death sentence for kids' channels on YouTube.

Now that the policy is official we'll probably soon hear exactly how it is impacting creators and what if anything Google actually does to mitigate that.
